In the previous book, “Becoming a Girl Powerhouse,” we visited the stories of 17 courageous women who were vulnerable in sharing stories of overcoming life’s struggles. Each woman shared her trials and tribulations to encourage the readers and provide hope to those feeling stuck in their situation.
A Girl Powerhouse is a powerful being, but we must remember she’s also human, even though the world thinks she’s a superhero. Day in and day out, she is torn in different directions but continues to navigate and pivot almost flawlessly through it all. Does she get tired? Yes! Does she get frustrated? Yes! Does she feel like she can’t handle it all sometimes? YES!
The difference is she never gives up, regardless of the circumstance. Girl Powerhouses welcome challenges because they are the foundation she uses to build her legacy. Each one brings a new level of confidence and appreciation that helps her stand on her story and not stay stuck in it because that’s what Girl Powerhouses do.

It is sort of strange to say this, but I did not like their own voice in the beginning.

She listened to musicians from Duke Ellington, Count Basie, George Duke, Prince, Anita Baker, and David Sanborn, to name a few. For over a decade, T. She studied how she could participate and help promote and drive audiences to the poetry communities she loves and serves. However, in November 2015, she would be devastated by the loss of her husband, Sean. To cope, she took part in a collaboration of short stories for the publication "Loving and Living After Tragedy," where she tells the story of meeting and losing her husband and the lessons learned. My name is Candace Linares. I was born in Downey, California, under the sign of Capricorn, with my Rising as Sagittarius and my Falling as Libra. That being said, you’ll understand my personality. I’m in my forties, my parents are Kathryn and Juan. I have three amazing children and a beautiful granddaughter. I’m currently in a relationship with a woman who has my heart. My life was never stable, we moved around a lot, and I hardly had any schooling. I went from not knowing how to read to teaching myself how. I’ve lived a life of heartache, disappointments, abuse, drugs, and alcohol, and the list seems almost endless. I started what I call a “rescue search” deep within myself because I desperately wanting to cleanse my soul of its shackles. Today, I work as a waitress and bartender at one of the local sporting fields. I have a different mindset for who I am! I can compliment myself and believe what I am saying. I love meditation. It continues to help me stay grounded when I’m going through difficult times. I also love listening to affirmations of empowerment. That’s another way I keep myself committed to staying positive.
